Hey everyone,
I just got back from my holiday aka 2nd honeymoon with my dearest husband. It was a vacation cum visiting our good friend who is currently posted to Sydney, Australia.
We went with AirAsia and from the Sydney Airport, our good friend came and fetched us. It was about 20 minutes of drive to his house. Taking a taxi to the city would be around 20-30 minutes.
On our trip this time, we didn't have to use the public transportation since our good friend was kind enough to send us to all the destinations. Nevertheless, I would suggest you to stay at the Sydney city as it will be easier and nearer for you to travel around. Everything is just in walking distance.
Our first stop was the Botany Bay Park to have a look at the splendid view.
Later that afternoon, we went to Circular Quay to take a picture with the Sydney Opera House.
and also of course with the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
If you wish to go to Lunapark, you may take the ferry from Circular Quay. On your way, enjoy the spectacular view of Sydney. We didn't go as we had inadequate time.
Here's another option you may consider by taking a walk around Farm Cove and Circular Quay. Beginning the walk down at Mrs. Macquarie's Chair, a chair carved into stone by convicts. This is one of the best places in Sydney to get photos of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. As you continue the walk around Farm Cove, you can either walk along the waterfront or through the Royal Botanic Gardens. Continuing the walk, the distinct white sails of the Sydney Opera House will come into view. If you have time, take a tour of the Opera House or take time to enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants around Circular Quay.
The next day we went to the Taronga Zoo (price ticket is AUD44). We bought the Taronga Zoo ticket (combo with ferry, cable car and bus tickets) for the price of AUD52 at the Cicular Quay (take a train to Circular Quay) and ride the ferry from there.
One we reached the wharf, we took a cable car to go up to the Taronga Zoo and took a bus on our way down.
A must watch show at the Taronga Zoo : The Bird Show
Darling Harbour is also a must visit place in Sydney. You may take the train to Town Hall to reach here.
First stop at the Darling Harbour was the Madame Tussauds. I bought a combination ticket of Madame Tassauds & Sydney Sealife Aquarium for AUS45.50 online. It's cheaper and you save AUD87. You can buy the tickets here http://www.madametussauds.com/Sydney/BuyTickets/Default.aspx.
Hard Rock Cafe is our must go place. It's also situated at the Darling Harbour.
A must eat place in Sydney : Pancakes on the Rocks. We had it at the Darling Harbour.
Bananarama : Pancake with banana, caramel and vanilla ice cream. Yum Yum!!
One of the must visit beaches in Sydney : Bondi Beach. Some of other options are the Manly Beach and Maroubra Beach.
Paddy's Market is a must go place if you want to buy souvenirs for your family and friends also for your self-keeping as a memento. It's only a 10 minute walk from the Darling Harbour. Just follow the signs.
Sydney has quite a few halal restaurants. One of them is the Ipoh on York restaurant situated at the York Street. Only a 10 minute walk from the Darling Harbour.
Our last stop was the Birkenhead Point where you can buy branded stuff at a cheaper price. Almost like the Johor Premium Outlet store in Malaysia.
I had the opportunity to shop in Sydney during the Boxing Day and the crowd was overwhelming. People were queuing at every stores to shop. I recommend you to go to the Pitt Street if you wish to do your shopping.
I hope you will enjoy your trip should you wish to visit Sydney one day as much as I did.
XOXO :P
